Our History

RADIUS was created in 2020 to join existing efforts in Douglas County, Nebraska to strengthen the continuum of services and alternatives for youth involved in the juvenile justice system.

These collective efforts are designed to keep Omaha youth, who are on juvenile probation, in their community to receive treatment and education while preventing them from experiencing disruptions in family relationships, education, and local support networks which are essential to their future success.

2019
A community advisory group composed of philanthropy, healthcare, law enforcement, juvenile court, probation, and individuals with personal experience began to explore the needs of youth in the local juvenile justice system.
2020
After learning about the experiences of local youth and families, learning about best practices and evidence-based programs, the advisory group recommended establishing a non-profit to develop programs to keep local youth in their own communities for help.
2021
RADIUS engaged project partners Beth Ochsner, Blair Freeman, HDR, and Turner Construction to design and build facilities on a campus at 50th & Grand Ave. in Omaha, Nebraska.
2022
RADIUS began construction of a residential facility and health center to serve youth ages 12-18 on juvenile probation and their families.
2023
RADIUS Ribbon Cutting on June 7, 2023. RADIUS Services Begin in July 2023.
